Keep the Motivation to Lose Weight

If you have a lot of weight to lose, you will start to feel the drag of the time that it takes. Losing weight slowly is more beneficial and healthy but that doesn’t mean it’s easy! Trying to keep the motivation when shedding the pounds is difficult but here are some tips to help you.

Set Mini Goals Along the Way

While you will have a main goal in mind for your weight loss, it is beneficial to set mini goals along your weight loss journey. These goals could be to get into the next dress size down or to lose half a stone. Have something that you know is possible to achieve on a regular basis so that you have something to celebrate every three or four weeks.

Have a Visual Reminder of What You Were

People tend to work better with visuals instead of trying to picture everything in their head. Have a constant visual reminder of what you were when you started to lose weight; this will be the reminder of what you don’t want to go back to. This could be a picture of you at your heaviest or an outfit that you don’t want to go back to wearing. Put these visuals somewhere that you will see them regularly, such as pinned to your computer monitor or hanging on the outside of your wardrobe; it will mean that you see them every day and remain motivated on your weight loss journey.

Have a Visual Reminder of What You Want

Another good visual reminder is where you want to be. This could be a photo of yourself at your goal weight from the past or an outfit that you are dreaming about fitting into. You could also sign up to a website that will give you the chance to see what you will be like at certain weights to find the perfect body – bear in mind that these programs will not give an exact! Having this reminder of what you want to get to will help to keep the motivation when you are losing weight.

Motivation will come and go but you need it to continue losing weight and being successful. The above three options are just three ways to remain motivated and dedicated to losing weight in the long term. However, you may find something else that works for you. Take your time when looking for something that keeps you motivated on your weight loss journey and good luck with it!
